Pinner & Harrow Mobile Osteopaths will be remaining open for face to face consultations during the Winter lockdown to support the NHS and local community. Osteopaths are specifically provided for under the new legislation, drafted for the Winter lockdown, as being able to remain open (see page 31 of the act). The Institute of Osteopathy has advised that this also includes for domiciliary (home) care.
Please note that the practice will not treat patients with symptoms of COVID-19/people who are self isolating due to having had a positive test for COVID-19.
As always, Pinner & Harrow Mobile Osteopaths will be employing a rigorous infection control regime (main points listed below) as required and advised by Public Health England, the General Ostopathic Council, and the Institute of Osteopathy.
-as required by the professional bodies as well as Track and Trace, single use face mask, apron, and, for examination and treatment, gloves, will be worn by the osteopath. Patients, and anyone else present, will need to wear a face mask
-all common points of contact outside and inside the car are cleaned with hot soapy water before the first patient of the day
-hands and forearms up to, and including, elbows are washed before and after consultation/treatment. Soap and towel (clean for each patient), will be provided by the osteopath
-plastic couch covers and wipeable down pillows are used which are washed/cleaned with hot soapy water between each patient. Bags used to carry these which are reused are also washed, otherwise they are new for each patient
-the treatment couch is cleaned between each patient, as are car keys, clipboard, and any pens used
-it would also be useful if the patient could air the room used for 30 minutes before and after treatment
Please note that the extra cleaning required between patients, including the need to return home between patients, during the pandemic means that extra time is required between patients which affects flexibility in offering appointment times.
